Minibus with Kurt Cobain Portrait - Bhaktapur - Nepal Date:28 March 2014, 23:26

I remember the day #KurtCobain died so clearly. It was April 5, 1994; I was a senior at #NorthwesternUniversity.

I had no classes that day. I woke up, showered, and put on combat boots, brown linen pants, black t shirt & my #SocialDistortion Skelly hat.

(Why I recall my outfit I have no idea.)

I heard on the radio that they ‘found a body’ in Cobain’s house & didn’t think much of it. I figured somebody had OD’d and maybe it was him – but prolly not because he should be happy with his phenomenal success, no?

I walked over to a friends’ apartment. We were hanging out & drinking MGD when the real news came out. We were stunned.

I have no recollection what the rest of the day was like, what we talked about or anything. I wish he’d gotten the help he needed.

Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

More Notes & Asides

Fucking A – I think #Vyvanse actually works. After 2 rollercoaster weeks, the last 2 days I’ve felt more clearheaded, focused, and motivated than I’ve ever been in my life. #adhd #adultadhd

Text:
The seasons in North Carolina
- Tree pollen: March-May
- Grass pollen: April-July
- Weed pollen: August-October

Beneath the text is a simple table with each column as a month and each row as Tree, Grass, or Weed. There are X's matching the months where each type of pollen is prevalent.
Just finished #debriefing myself after my trip to the allergist and this is part of my #notes. I’ve been an inveterate note-taker for years and discovered #PKM (Personal Knowledge Management) last year while searching for #ADHD oriented methods of organization & productivity. That led me to the amazing #Obsidian app (which is shockingly free for being fully featured), which took my note-taking to another level. I do gain some satisfaction from creating informative visuals 🙂

If you’re wondering whether a #LowFat or #LowCarb #diet is better, wonder no more with these randomized control trials. I’ve gone hardcore #vegan and hardcore #paleo and only in the latter did weight just melt off within the first month with no exercise at all. It’s not coincidental that the obesity rate in the US shot up after a low fat diet was recommended in 1977. I’m currently researching a #keto diet for both longevity & mental health.

My patience these days for non-native English speakers providing #techsupport is ZERO. They’re not much better than ‘ai’ and getting the right answer is like pulling teeth. I try to give all the details needed to answer my question and they ignore most of it, don’t understand what they do pay attention to, and give the quickest answer they can that is vaguely related to what I asked. It’s frustrating as hell, they’re just hurdles in trying to get anything done.

Copy of a private message with a heart emoji in the bottom left. Hey man you don't know me but just wanted to say I appreciate you posting about your ADHD on here. It was one of the things that helped me decide to get checked and found it I had it too and getting on medication to help with it has just been nothing but awesome for me. So thank you! Have a great day! Btw love the pet bird stories too!
This made my day! I’m glad that posting and sharing about #adhd helped someone out – and they love our birb too 🙂 #AdultADHD #ADHDer #LateDX

I met an old friend from college for the first time in over a decade last weekend, and it was good to see that some things don’t change, despite time & distance. Recently they invited me to join a group chat w/ other college acquaintances, which I declined because why would I willfully chat with people just because we went to the same school for a bit? My friend said that everyone else had given up and accepted their lot in life. Most are neurotypical and some judged me for not studying or being serious enough. Who wants to be surrounded by people who feel like that? 2 things I’ve learned about my #adhd: 1) I never run out of ideas so there’s always something keeping things interesting (the big problem is sorting through them), and 2) my persistence is fierce. I guess having a sketchy memory and being easily ...

  1. @mori You’re most welcome. I looked at him very differently after the Unplugged show aired the previous December. That’s a clear memory too, a friend and I were looking forward to it and not knowing what to expect. We’d heard they tried letting Grohl play like normal, except in a plastic box to deaden the sound.

We were chatty waiting for the show, drinking beer. The show started & we were really caught off guard. After the 2nd song we stopped talking and watched the rest of the show in silence – and started quiet for several minutes after the show ended.
