We need more focus on ‘collective intelligence’ vs individual genius. Encouragement of collaboration & cross-pollination. Being around other creatives, in varied disciplines, is meaningful for the growth of one’s own #creativity.

I recognize now that I lacked creative peers for most of my life so I was always flying solo, not getting ideas from others nor getting any useful feedback. My friends would sit around and watch movies while I preferred wandering the Metropolitan Museum of Art and seeing what caught my eye.

Finally found a pic of my all-time favorite #Halloween#costume: a Generic Bad Guy from a #1970s#Bollywood masala film! I was most definitely named ‘Zebisko’ (my favorite bad guy name, ever, from one of my favorite movies ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’), thrifted the green polyester jacket & red 70s tux shirt, and sadly did not grow the #fumanchu (it’s fake hair & spirit gum). I wish I still had that polyester jacket 🙁 #FunFact: Masala films blend multiple genres into one movie: action, romance, comedy, drama, and – of course – musicals; the best were made in the late #70s and early #80s. #Films are usually 3h long so you get your money’s worth and there is literally something for everybody. Pointless sidenote: people wore #bellbottoms in India throughout the 80s, and as late as 1994 I met a guy in the Bombay airport who dressed like Neil Diamond from the 70s ...

This thing is ridiculous AND I MUST HAVE IT. I’ve long wanted a hardware sampler and the #TeenageEngineering –133 k.o.2 caught my attention for being feature-packed while being usable with batteries to reduce friction. But a version with #medieval #samples takes the cake! Years back I was really into #AgeOfEmpires and #Civilization so I’m tempted to use this to make a soundtrack for the different parts of my life (like when discovering agriculture or when I want to stab a neighboring principality in the back). In other news: currently obsessed with the Green Day demo song ‘Black Eyeliner’ from the 25th anniversary (jfc the time has past) release of Nimrod. Some songs just catch me from the first listen and hit me deep. Maybe some of it is the familiarity since part of the chorus ended up in ‘Church on Sunday.’ But usually the combo of the music & melodies hit me, and the lyrics do on a subconscious level until I learn the actual lyrics. PS I’m procrastinating

Just completed a #WeeklyReview for the first time ever, after spending a couple of weeks wrangling with #Obsidian & the Templater plugin (and reading too many how to posts from people who all do things differently). I’m finding daily notes helpful for thinking about what I want to get done and clear my head early in the day, and the weekly review is something I’ve been putting off for a couple of years until I had a process that made sense (mad props to Obsidian for being the vehicle for this) #Productivity is such a challenge with #adhd because 99% of the neurotypical advice just doesn’t work for us. So it’s a struggle not only finding something that might work, but tweaking it until it makes sense for my specific brain. #PKM #Neurodiversity #AdultADHD #ADHDer

the primevals 2023
I started watching #ThePrimevals last night and it is an AWESOME BLAST FROM THE PAST! The #stopmotion #animation is exquisite and everything about the production – the shots, the blocking, the color grading – feels like a #film made before 1982. And it’s a straight up B #movie with tacky dialogue and bad acting. I’m looking forward to watching the rest, apparently the story gets batshit crazy.
