#DaftPunk mixed their first two albums on a JVC #boombox like this. All the standard advice to ‘don’t mix on this or that’ and they used a 10 year old boombox with a simple graphic equalizer.

The lesson: Expensive equipment isn’t necessary; mix on something you use and know well.

And don’t wait until you have the ‘right’ equipment. As #ArthurAshe said,

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”

Arp Laszlo

Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

#TIL #BootsyCollins did NOT play the #bass line in ‘Groove Is In The Heart’ 🤯🤯🤯. It’s a sample from the #HerbieHancock track ‘Bring Down The Birds’ played by #RonCarter (who I wanted to take a class with during my short stint at #CUNY). #sampling #paulthompson #Deee-lite #Music #90s

O M G this looks emotional and compelling. The first movie blew my mind so much that I didn’t even notice that #MilesMorales did not have his tragedy yet. Not only does the #animation look gorgeous but now the whole chased by the League of Spider-people (I just made that up AND said it in Lucas Lee’s voice) thing makes more sense. Looks like this one will live up to the first #movie (which I saw 3x in the theatre) and I MUST see it in #IMAX again. Interestingly, YouTube served up the #Indian #trailer for me first and there are some HUGE differences compared to the US version. They focused completely on drama, with a couple of laughs thrown in. No mention of The Spot. And tied it into the live action movies to clue newcomers in. They know what sells in #Bollywood! Do I understand correctly that #PatrickNagel’s style was based on tracing & stylizing photographs? I suppose they’re #remixes but it I can’t help rolling my eyes 🙄 https://www.musictimes.com/articles/104220/20240610/duran-duran-original-rio-girl-found-after-42-years.htm Photo credits: Capitol Records, Vogue Paris

There’s nothing like having the #motivation to do something and then running into repeated unexpected issues that suck the motivation right out of you. I wish all of my technology would just fucking work consistently so I can focus on figuring out my processes for productivity instead of troubleshooting something that was working fine 2 days ago 🤬🤬🤬

I stopped taking #Adderall daily 3w ago because I wasn’t sure it was really making a big difference. I had skipped it unintentionally a couple of days in the month prior and didn’t notice, which is what got me thinking about stopping. Instead of the XR I now have the regular kind for use as needed, so I had one yesterday and was pretty productive and focused over the course of the afternoon. But I fucking woke up at 5:30 and couldn’t go back to sleep. The stuff is not going to be very useful if it fucks with my sleep and worsens my symptoms the following day 😑 #adhd
