I can’t count the number of times someone asked me to stop pacing because ‘it made them nervous.’

Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

I find #languages – pronunciations, nuances, #etymology, et al – fascinating; the #Otherwords #PBS series is right up my alley. & it’s #ADHDFriendly, as the videos are super engaging. #TIL that there’s a distinct connection between the #dialects of Boston, Nu Yawk, the Deep South, all centered around the letter R. Ad-driven social media platforms are willing to tolerate monumental volumes of abusive users. They’ve discovered the same thing the Mainstream Media did: negative emotions grip people’s attention harder than positive ones. But the lack of an #algorithm or clear profit motive means the Negativity du Jour™ isn’t pushed to the forefront for everybody and comes to ...
One of the worst things about having #adhd is getting an idea and forgetting it in the few seconds it takes to find my notes app to write it down 🤦🏽♂️
#DaftPunk mixed their first two albums on a JVC #boombox like this. All the standard advice to ‘don’t mix on this or that’ and they used a 10 year old boombox with a simple graphic equalizer. The lesson: Expensive equipment isn’t necessary; mix on something you use and know well. And don’t wait until you have the ‘right’ equipment. As #ArthurAshe said, “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” https://musictech.com/news/music/daft-punk-homework-discovery-bedroom/ #MusicProduction #Quote #Wisdom #JustDoIt #MakeStuff
