This is my favorite #quote from #JosephCampbell (and one of my favorite #quotes, period). It made me think much more deeply about #mythology and its’ purpose, as well as its’ relevance to life and humanity (and, of course, myself).

Modern life is so distracting; it’s hard to be truly connected with ourselves. Maybe mythology is a solution.

People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive. That’s what it’s all finally about, and that’s what these clues help us to find within ourselves.

Here we go again: the common #adhd morning dilemma of ‘Have I taken my meds or not?’ Thanks to my lovelyshort term #memory, I have to piece together my morning and see where I deviated from The Sequence of Things, because any deviation can make me forget a step. (this need for a specific order of actions makes me wonder how far along the spectrum I might be).

Just shared this with my kids. It is good to know how long political things take when it seems like nothing is happening. It took Biden & his team 6 months to get through Mike Johnson’s skull. Politics & diplomacy are delicate processes and things are rarely as simple as we wish. This was simple vs how complex & multifaceted the situation with Israel, Iran, et al is. This is also why experience matters. We need more focus on ‘collective intelligence’ vs individual genius. Encouragement of collaboration & cross-pollination. Being around other creatives, in varied disciplines, is meaningful for the growth of one’s own #creativity. I recognize now that I lacked creative peers for most of my life so I was always flying solo, not getting ideas from others nor getting any useful feedback. My friends would sit around and watch movies while I preferred wandering the Metropolitan Museum of Art and seeing what caught my eye. #BrianEno #POSSE Photo credit
