I find #languages – pronunciations, nuances, #etymology, et al – fascinating; the #Otherwords #PBS series is right up my alley. & it’s #ADHDFriendly, as the videos are super engaging.

#TIL that there’s a distinct connection between the #dialects of Boston, Nu Yawk, the Deep South, all centered around the letter R.

Also, this video might help you roll your Rs if that skill escapes you.

Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

More Notes & Asides

In other news: currently obsessed with the Green Day demo song ‘Black Eyeliner’ from the 25th anniversary (jfc the time has past) release of Nimrod. Some songs just catch me from the first listen and hit me deep. Maybe some of it is the familiarity since part of the chorus ended up in ‘Church on Sunday.’ But usually the combo of the music & melodies hit me, and the lyrics do on a subconscious level until I learn the actual lyrics. PS I’m procrastinating

O M G this looks emotional and compelling. The first movie blew my mind so much that I didn’t even notice that #MilesMorales did not have his tragedy yet. Not only does the #animation look gorgeous but now the whole chased by the League of Spider-people (I just made that up AND said it in Lucas Lee’s voice) thing makes more sense. Looks like this one will live up to the first #movie (which I saw 3x in the theatre) and I MUST see it in #IMAX again. Interestingly, YouTube served up the #Indian #trailer for me first and there are some HUGE differences compared to the US version. They focused completely on drama, with a couple of laughs thrown in. No mention of The Spot. And tied it into the live action movies to clue newcomers in. They know what sells in #Bollywood! Green Day Dookie oral history illo by Harrison Freeman
These oral histories of #music I love will never get old. #GreenDay’s sense of humor was/is really important for me to be able to relate to them, which is why some of their post-American Idiot releases fell flat under the weight of their own seriousness. https://www.theringer.com/music/2024/5/16/24157483/green-day-dookie-oral-history-saviors-tour Also: if you haven’t listened to #TheMuffs, who they listened to a lot while recording #Dookie, you are missing out on an incredibly underrated band with the best screamer in the history of music. I could have finished my adhd blog last night (I just had to finish optimizing performance) but … I wasn’t totally thrilled with the colors and their use. Which led to a #rabbithole on UX (user experience), colors in websites & apps, and messing around with a plethora of color palette generators & tools (many of which were new to me and super cool). This prolly led to today’s insomnia as I hyperfocused & missed my melatonin window (at least that’s one theory I have for my shitty sleep).

I have watched too much #Survivor in my life. It’s a guilty pleasure 🫣. But learning I have #adhd made me realize that I would SUCK at it cuz I can’t play the social game. But how would Survivor go if ALL contestants were #neurodiverse? What if everyone took things literally, had trouble lying, & couldn’t read social cues? There’d be less conniving, less of the stuff the show loves to highlight. But I think there’d be more real cooperation & stuff. It could be quite interesting.

generatepress theme global colors
In other news, I spent an hour messing with a new color scheme for my #website last night. This is the 3rd color palette that I’ve used and I suspect it won’t be the last 😆 And I know that there are a LOT of colors, & that I can get rid of some of them. But #minimalism is not natural to me. Pretty sure this all relates to #adhd in some fashion 🤔
