After just reacting to requests & urgency in my work for ages I decided to sit down & (over several days) and write out the answers to a bunch of questions that I need to know. What do I like to do? What do I want to do? And I have to write this all by hand because, for whatever reason, when I write stuff down is when I do my best thinking.

Below is the list of questions I came up with, in case it helps other #adhd / #AuADHD folks. I’m also proud of myself that I came up with these questions WITHOUT DOING ANY RESEARCH. I’m prone to Gathering Info so I can make the best decisions not make mistakes or be wrong. This time I just trusted in myself, I’ve researched plenty, I know this stuff, and it doesn’t have to be perfect.

The Questions

What do I like to do?

What do I not like doing or don’t want to do?

What do I want to do?

What am I good at?

What am I bad at?

What do my clients like about me? (I emailed them to ask)

What motivates me?

What are my values?

What do I want to do for others? For my family?

What do I want to do for myself?

What do I need to do before I die?

What are the next steps to put these beliefs, ideas, and desires into action?

Just writing this stresses me the f out 😖 I’m pushing myself far out of my comfort zone, to pursue something I’ve long wanted, that I think I can do well – but have been frozen by #anxiety, #ImposterSyndrome, & #RejectionSensitiveDysphoria. I’m gonna record myself singing for the #GreenDay Cover Project, deadline next Tuesday 3/15 at midnight.

Here’s what I did in #Obsidian to make the #Todoist #tasks display better: I indented subtasks and made the meta smaller, inline, and with reduced opacity that increases on hover. Purty and useful 🙂 #ObsidianApp #PKM #TaskManagement

We need more focus on ‘collective intelligence’ vs individual genius. Encouragement of collaboration & cross-pollination. Being around other creatives, in varied disciplines, is meaningful for the growth of one’s own #creativity. I recognize now that I lacked creative peers for most of my life so I was always flying solo, not getting ideas from others nor getting any useful feedback. My friends would sit around and watch movies while I preferred wandering the Metropolitan Museum of Art and seeing what caught my eye. #BrianEno #POSSE Photo credit

#DaftPunk mixed their first two albums on a JVC #boombox like this. All the standard advice to ‘don’t mix on this or that’ and they used a 10 year old boombox with a simple graphic equalizer. The lesson: Expensive equipment isn’t necessary; mix on something you use and know well. And don’t wait until you have the ‘right’ equipment. As #ArthurAshe said, “Start where you are. It is AMAZING what catching up on #sleep can do for #MentalHealth. 3 days ago I was struggling, this morning I woke up refreshed and ready to jump back on all the horses I’ve ignored for 2w. #Sleep is the first domino of #selfcare that #ADHD-ers need to take care of. Gathering data and using technology has helped me to get back on track. When I looked at my sleep data for the month (see image), I saw how spotty sleep affected how I felt. The 2nd week was so bad that motivation cratered; I had to use last week to get my sleep back on track.
