Today might have been the most productive day I’ve had in a loooooong time. And not one of those *I’m hyperfocused so I work for 12h* days either. I knocked off a bunch of todos, worked 2h+ on one of my 2 big long term projects, upgraded a computer (that didn’t work, troubleshooting will be next weekend), and now it’s time to for some self care (bathing & grooming).

#Vyvanse might be magic, or it might have been my new therapist last week.

Arp Laszlo
Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

More Notes & Asides

Myths formulate things for you. They say, for example, that you have to become an adult at a particular age. The age might be a good average for that to happen––but actually, in the individual life, it differs greatly. Some people are late bloomers and come to particular stages at a relatively late age. You have to have a feeling for where you are. You've got only one life to live, and you don't have to live it for six people. Pay attention to it. (Joseph Campbell)
This #quote from #JosephCampbell came up on my #birthday years ago but this year it hits differently. It put into words what I felt but couldn’t articulate. After recently reading how #ADHD brains mature at a much different rate than neurotypical brains, it’s a little 🤯🤯🤯. Maybe #mythology hearkened to me on a much deeper level than I ever expected. My understanding of how different I am from ‘the norm’ has only happened in the past 2 years. Yet I always celebrated being different, and decided long ago that striving to be like everyone else was a Bad Thing. It still took years for me to listen to myself (it was a gradual process), but that’s fine. Little shifts in perspective add up over time until one day you find that you’ve done a 180 and are swimming against the flow. To all my fellow #ADHDers & #neurodiverse peeps out ...

It’s morning coffee and reading time with this lovely lass and #ScottPilgrim (and yes, I’m totally psyched about the anime and am looking forward to seeing more from the #comics and more about the Evil Exes). #Cats #CatsOfMastodon #CaturdayEveryday #GraphicNovels

Green Day Dookie oral history illo by Harrison Freeman
These oral histories of #music I love will never get old. #GreenDay’s sense of humor was/is really important for me to be able to relate to them, which is why some of their post-American Idiot releases fell flat under the weight of their own seriousness. https://www.theringer.com/music/2024/5/16/24157483/green-day-dookie-oral-history-saviors-tour Also: if you haven’t listened to #TheMuffs, who they listened to a lot while recording #Dookie, you are missing out on an incredibly underrated band with the best screamer in the history of music. Meme from ‘@stfrock’:

Word of the day is 'spuddle' (17th century): to work ineffectively; to be extremely busy whilst achieving absolutely nothing.
Wow – a word that describes most of my working life 🤣🤣🤣

Right now, I’m doing something I thought I’d never do in my life: drink decaffeinated #coffee. I learned quickly that #Vyvanse + coffee = Jitters From Hell so I’ve avoided coffee these 3 weeks. That royally messed up my morning routine, which included blending 30g of protein into my coffee, which prevents me from getting stupid hangry mid-morning and resorting to eating anything I can get my hands on. I’m glad to say it doesn’t taste like watered down coffee 😂 #ADHD #AuADHD
