Arp Laszlo
Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

Green Day Dookie oral history illo by Harrison Freeman
These oral histories of #music I love will never get old. #GreenDay’s sense of humor was/is really important for me to be able to relate to them, which is why some of their post-American Idiot releases fell flat under the weight of their own seriousness. https://www.theringer.com/music/2024/5/16/24157483/green-day-dookie-oral-history-saviors-tour Also: if you haven’t listened to #TheMuffs, who they listened to a lot while recording #Dookie, you are missing out on an incredibly underrated band with the best screamer in the history of music. #TIL #BootsyCollins did NOT play the #bass line in ‘Groove Is In The Heart’ 🤯🤯🤯. It’s a sample from the #HerbieHancock track ‘Bring Down The Birds’ played by #RonCarter (who I wanted to take a class with during my short stint at #CUNY). #sampling #paulthompson #Deee-lite #Music #90s

I met an old friend from college for the first time in over a decade last weekend, and it was good to see that some things don’t change, despite time & distance. Recently they invited me to join a group chat w/ other college acquaintances, which I declined because why would I willfully chat with people just because we went to the same school for a bit? My friend said that everyone else had given up and accepted their lot in life. Most are neurotypical and some judged me for not studying or being serious enough. Who wants to be surrounded by people who feel like that? 2 things I’ve learned about my #adhd: 1) I never run out of ideas so there’s always something keeping things interesting (the big problem is sorting through them), and 2) my persistence is fierce. I guess having a sketchy memory and being easily ...

A belated #TuneTuesday as yesterday got away from me. The #FunSong theme made me think immediately of my newest #music obsession, #ElectricCallboy and their song We Got The Moves. It’s a song about partying and they don’t take themselves seriously in the least. 20yo me would likely sneer at ‘commercialism’ or some other nonesuch but 50yo me enjoys the hell out of this.

My patience these days for non-native English speakers providing #techsupport is ZERO. They’re not much better than ‘ai’ and getting the right answer is like pulling teeth. I try to give all the details needed to answer my question and they ignore most of it, don’t understand what they do pay attention to, and give the quickest answer they can that is vaguely related to what I asked. It’s frustrating as hell, they’re just hurdles in trying to get anything done.

gandalf looking indian dude with a medium haired calico cat, sunlight streaming on their faces. also i don’t know what ‘calico’ is but it sounds right.
She must like me, she sits up here almost every morning purring while I have my coffee. Today we’re graced with some lovely (albeit blinding) sunlight. Also: she’s almost 17 and deaf, yet still pretty darn spry. #Caturday #CaturdayEveryday #Cat #Cats #CatLovers #Catstodon
