#TIL that #WordPress’ #Gutenberg block editor has built-in character & word counting abilities – just click on that little blue ℹ️ in a circle icon and voila. I needed to know this info as I’m testing crossposting here from #WP, & that toot should have posted in the time it took me to write this. Gutenberg has been around for over 4y & I managed to forget this existed (thx #adhd 🧠).

#DaftPunk mixed their first two albums on a JVC #boombox like this. All the standard advice to ‘don’t mix on this or that’ and they used a 10 year old boombox with a simple graphic equalizer. The lesson: Expensive equipment isn’t necessary; mix on something you use and know well. And don’t wait until you have the ‘right’ equipment. As #ArthurAshe said, “Start where you are. This isn’t #adhd specific but it is a quote that really smacked me upside the head. It made me realize that I didn’t mind sucking at a lot of activities I’ve enjoyed. I welcomed the process of getting better – or not getting better, because sometimes things are just plain fun. And if sucking at it isn’t appealing, then I guess it’s not for me. This has proven pretty damn accurate. The source – #BrianMcDonald – is many things (writer, director, producer) all built around his skill in #storytelling. He’s written some excellent #books on #writing as well – #InvisibleInk is one I highly recommend. My favorite place to glean some #wisdom from him is his #podcast ‘You Are A Storyteller’ (where I heard this #quote). He talks a lot about movies but his explanations for why this or that #story works/doesnt work has helped me write better #stories. #meme ...

I could have finished my adhd blog last night (I just had to finish optimizing performance) but … I wasn’t totally thrilled with the colors and their use. Which led to a #rabbithole on UX (user experience), colors in websites & apps, and messing around with a plethora of color palette generators & tools (many of which were new to me and super cool). This prolly led to today’s insomnia as I hyperfocused & missed my melatonin window (at least that’s one theory I have for my shitty sleep).
