coddiwomple (v.) to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination.

#TIL that there’s a word that describes my whole damn life 😆

Except my ‘purposeful manner’ zigged and zagged a lot. No real destination in mind, just ideas of where I thought I wanted to go – or where I thought I should (🤦🏽‍♂️) be going.

Some of this is #adhd related (like half-heartedly doing things I had no interest in) and some is not (school teaches you to not listen to yourself because Other People Know Better). But I would like to correct course and have a destination in mind for once.

Also: ‘Coddiwomple’ is an incredible word. #Language can be so much fun!

Arp

Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

More Notes & Asides

Meme of Keenan Thompson pretending to be Steve Harvey hosting Family Feud, looking perturbed af. It looks like the show, with the questions & answers on screen. Title: My ADHD Question & Answers: How to have a conversation? A: interrupt them C: zone out B: trip over your words D: get really excited about the topic and freak them out

Share on #Mastodon works, but delaying the share does not despite #cron running every 5 minutes. Now let’s see if the featured image gets shared. #adhd #adhdmemes

Hey – it’s #ADHDObsessionWednesday! I want to hear from my #adhd peeps: what’s your current obsession or passion? I’m still obsessed with #Mastodon, the #Fediverse, and the possibility of a better internet. So I added a bunch of #IndieWeb features to my new site. (I was gonna do this on Monday but… I got distracted & forgot 😆)

#TMNT was OUTSTANDING! Purty #art, well written, plenty of feels, great #characters, great #CharacterDesign – and it was FUNNY. The #90s #HipHop was cherry on the cake, with #ODB an unexpected surprise. #WuTang

Daft Punk & the JVC Boombox. Photo by AngelicaAudio.

#DaftPunk mixed their first two albums on a JVC #boombox like this. All the standard advice to ‘don’t mix on this or that’ and they used a 10 year old boombox with a simple graphic equalizer. The lesson: Expensive equipment isn’t necessary; mix on something you use and know well. And don’t wait until you have the ‘right’ equipment. As #ArthurAshe said, “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” https://musictech.com/news/music/daft-punk-homework-discovery-bedroom/ #MusicProduction #Quote #Wisdom #JustDoIt #MakeStuff
