Sooooooo I stopped taking my #ADHD meds almost 2 weeks ago. I was feeling less & less motivated over time and running more on autopilot; I realized that happened slowly over the last 2 years. Without the #adderall my mind is a lot fuzzier, my #timeBlindness is raging, and my short-term #memory is Fd – but I also feel happier and more present. The only negative is I actually get irritated and/or crabby now, but it’s on me to be aware of my feelings.
In other news: currently obsessed with the Green Day demo song ‘Black Eyeliner’ from the 25th anniversary (jfc the time has past) release of Nimrod. Some songs just catch me from the first listen and hit me deep. Maybe some of it is the familiarity since part of the chorus ended up in ‘Church on Sunday.’ But usually the combo of the music & melodies hit me, and the lyrics do on a subconscious level until I learn the actual lyrics. PS I’m procrastinating
Questions regarding #webmention & #Mastodon replies: Does it only sync replies to a toot that has a link in it? In my brief testing today I noticed that of the 3 comments I made to this toot, only the 2 that were direct replies to the OP were synced back to #WordPress. Also: is it possible to alter the incoming webmentions? It would be cool if there were a way to strip hashtags that are not in a sentence (ie the ones at the ends of toots).
I met an old friend from college for the first time in over a decade last weekend, and it was good to see that some things don’t change, despite time & distance. Recently they invited me to join a group chat w/ other college acquaintances, which I declined because why would I willfully chat with people just because we went to the same school for a bit? My friend said that everyone else had given up and accepted their lot in life. Most are neurotypical and some judged me for not studying or being serious enough. Who wants to be surrounded by people who feel like that? 2 things I’ve learned about my #adhd: 1) I never run out of ideas so there’s always something keeping things interesting (the big problem is sorting through them), and 2) my persistence is fierce. If you’re wondering whether a #LowFat or #LowCarb #diet is better, wonder no more with these randomized control trials. I’ve gone hardcore #vegan and hardcore #paleo and only in the latter did weight just melt off within the first month with no exercise at all. It’s not coincidental that the obesity rate in the US shot up after a low fat diet was recommended in 1977. I’m currently researching a #keto diet for both longevity & mental health.
#GodzillaMinusOne lived up to the hype. In the first 10 minutes I thought it might be the best opening of any #Gojira #film but by the end it became The Best Godzilla #Movie Ever. Most #kaiju #movies focus on the action and other cool stuff but this one made him terrifying on a human level. I got jolted repeatedly when he attacked, it felt so visceral. The bar has been reset, and I’m dying to see what comes next.
