I remember the day #KurtCobain died so clearly. It was April 5, 1994; I was a senior at #NorthwesternUniversity.
I had no classes that day. I woke up, showered, and put on combat boots, brown linen pants, black t shirt & my #SocialDistortion Skelly hat.
(Why I recall my outfit I have no idea.)
I heard on the radio that they ‘found a body’ in Cobain’s house & didn’t think much of it. I figured somebody had OD’d and maybe it was him – but prolly not because he should be happy with his phenomenal success, no?
I walked over to a friends’ apartment. We were hanging out & drinking MGD when the real news came out. We were stunned.
I have no recollection what the rest of the day was like, what we talked about or anything. I wish he’d gotten the help he needed.

@arpcomics Thanks for sharing. I was too young at that time but having become a big fan since, I wonder sometimes wonder what it was like when it happened
@mori You’re most welcome. I looked at him very differently after the Unplugged show aired the previous December. That’s a clear memory too, a friend and I were looking forward to it and not knowing what to expect. We’d heard they tried letting Grohl play like normal, except in a plastic box to deaden the sound.
We were chatty waiting for the show, drinking beer. The show started & we were really caught off guard. After the 2nd song we stopped talking and watched the rest of the show in silence – and started quiet for several minutes after the show ended.
