If you’re wondering whether a #LowFat or #LowCarb #diet is better, wonder no more with these randomized control trials.
I’ve gone hardcore #vegan and hardcore #paleo and only in the latter did weight just melt off within the first month with no exercise at all.
It’s not coincidental that the obesity rate in the US shot up after a low fat diet was recommended in 1977.
I’m currently researching a #keto diet for both longevity & mental health.
@arpcomics I have lost 20 pounds in a renal safe diet (I don’t have renal problems). Thanks for sharing your results.
Can you explain a bit more? It looks like the goal is to minimize sodium, potassium, and phosphorus, and maybe protein too.
@arpcomics that’s my practical experience as well.Bring out the triple cream! 😁
@jacmoe LOL. I firmly believe in cheat meals, because pure denial just doesn’t work for me.
@mguhlin Can you explain a bit more? It looks like the goal is to minimize sodium, potassium, and phosphorus, and maybe protein too.

@arpcomics Yes, exactly. Low potassium, low salt, low phosphorus, and switch to plant based protein and fish. There are daily totals to not exceed.
I take it there’s a strong focus on whole foods?
@arpcomics Veganism isn’t a diet, it’s a lifestyle that avoids harming and exploiting animals. Food is just the most obvious part.So there’s not one vegan diet.”vegan” doesn’t describe dietary health. There’s a very wide range, from raw whole food to junk food to paleo vegans. So it’s possible to have a very healthy diet (with a healthy biochemical makeup, regardless of the details of which you consider ideal), or a very unhealthy diet linked to the most common illness among nonvegans.
@arpcomics This is how “veganism” is literally defined, by the folks who coined the term. You can find pages nearby on why they chose the term and their intent to describe a philosophy and lifestyle that avoids exploitation, because “vegetarian” meant a specific diet. That’s the historical context.https://www.vegansociety.com/go-vegan/definition-veganism

Thanks, I appreciate it. I’ll have to figure out how to best describe what I did, which was cutting out all animal products (meats & dairy).
@arpcomics Static definitely a non-starter for me. Love what you did with your site. That’s what I’m aiming for.
