In other news: currently obsessed with the Green Day demo song ‘Black Eyeliner’ from the 25th anniversary (jfc the time has past) release of Nimrod. Some songs just catch me from the first listen and hit me deep. Maybe some of it is the familiarity since part of the chorus ended up in ‘Church on Sunday.’ But usually the combo of the music & melodies hit me, and the lyrics do on a subconscious level until I learn the actual lyrics. PS I’m procrastinating

This was one of the most adorable things I’ve seen in ages – a youngun discovers that she loves #ProWrestling after having managed to avoid it for years. I can see the avoiding part, I met all of 1 friend in college who enjoyed it (the rest of them were snooty dicks desperate for alternative street cred*). This also hit home as our 14yo watched a little wrestling with me over the past year and found that they liked #IyoSky (and now #Asuka too) because of their style & attitude. (Not coincidentally, they’re into manga & anime so I suspect they’re like crazy anime characters come to life.) They watched both nights of ‘Mania with me after getting invested in Cody finishing his story and buying into all the various storylines. And also thinking that Rhea Ripley is cool as shit. This is an INCREDIBLE little #film. I love #stopmotion #animation (#Laika > #Pixar, all day every day and twice on Sunday). It’s so real and tangible, with a sense of space, depth, and light that CGI just can’t capture. But I didn’t know how bad-ass #fighting in stop-motion could be. This isn’t #adhd specific but it is a quote that really smacked me upside the head. It made me realize that I didn’t mind sucking at a lot of activities I’ve enjoyed. I welcomed the process of getting better – or not getting better, because sometimes things are just plain fun. And if sucking at it isn’t appealing, then I guess it’s not for me. This has proven pretty damn accurate. The source – #BrianMcDonald – is many things (writer, director, producer) all built around his skill in #storytelling. He’s written some excellent #books on #writing as well – #InvisibleInk is one I highly recommend. My favorite place to glean some #wisdom from him is his #podcast ‘You Are A Storyteller’ (where I heard this #quote). He talks a lot about movies but his explanations for why this or that #story works/doesnt work has helped me write better #stories. #meme ...
