adhd sleep autosleep ios screenshot

It is AMAZING what catching up on #sleep can do for #MentalHealth. 3 days ago I was struggling, this morning I woke up refreshed and ready to jump back on all the horses I’ve ignored for 2w.

#Sleep is the first domino of #selfcare that #ADHD-ers need to take care of. Gathering data and using technology has helped me to get back on track. When I looked at my sleep data for the month (see image), I saw how spotty sleep affected how I felt. The 2nd week was so bad that motivation cratered; I had to use last week to get my sleep back on track.

I use two #iOS #apps for this: #AutoSleep (the screenshot source) and #RiseApp (it calculates #CircadianRhythms, the best times to sleep & wake, and tracks sleep debt).

3 nights of 8.5h of sleep caught me up, and I did it by going to bed at Rise’s recommended time, with 1mg of #melatonin taken 4h before that.

Props to my #AppleWatch for the data gathering.

Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

And thus I realized that I totally forgot to take my meds yesterday. #ADHD #AdultADHD #ADHDlife

Here we go again: the common #adhd morning dilemma of ‘Have I taken my meds or not?’ Thanks to my lovelyshort term #memory, I have to piece together my morning and see where I deviated from The Sequence of Things, because any deviation can make me forget a step. (this need for a specific order of actions makes me wonder how far along the spectrum I might be).

Here’s what I did in #Obsidian to make the #Todoist #tasks display better: I indented subtasks and made the meta smaller, inline, and with reduced opacity that increases on hover. Purty and useful 🙂 #ObsidianApp #PKM #TaskManagement

Ad-driven social media platforms are willing to tolerate monumental volumes of abusive users. They’ve discovered the same thing the Mainstream Media did: negative emotions grip people’s attention harder than positive ones. Hate and fear drives engagement, and engagement drives ad impressions. #Mastodon is not an ad-driven platform. There is absolutely zero incentives to let awful people run amok in the name of engagement. @malwaretech@infosec.exchange My microcosmic validation of this is my wife asking 2-3 times in the past month if I’m aware of [something negative driving engagement] and my response has been ‘Nope, I don’t see anyone sharing that on the #Fediverse.’ I still use #BigMammoth (thx to @jensorensen@mastodon.social for that 😆) to keep up on politics daily so I’m aware of what’s going on. But the lack of an #algorithm or clear profit motive means the Negativity du Jour™ isn’t pushed to the forefront for everybody and comes to ...

Copy of a private message with a heart emoji in the bottom left. Hey man you don't know me but just wanted to say I appreciate you posting about your ADHD on here. It was one of the things that helped me decide to get checked and found it I had it too and getting on medication to help with it has just been nothing but awesome for me. So thank you! Have a great day! Btw love the pet bird stories too!
This made my day! I’m glad that posting and sharing about #adhd helped someone out – and they love our birb too 🙂 #AdultADHD #ADHDer #LateDX

Any #AppleiPad users notice an increase in weird little issues in the past few months? I’ve happily used a 2018 iPad Pro for the last 5 years but in the last few months there have been repeated weird issues. The iPad has always been rock solid until now, so I’m wondering if a recent iPadOS update messed things up (either intentionally or unintentionally by Apple) or if it’s just me. It’s definitely not a storage issue as I’ve got over 250gb (out of 512gb) free.
