adhd sleep autosleep ios screenshot

It is AMAZING what catching up on #sleep can do for #MentalHealth. 3 days ago I was struggling, this morning I woke up refreshed and ready to jump back on all the horses I’ve ignored for 2w.

#Sleep is the first domino of #selfcare that #ADHD-ers need to take care of. Gathering data and using technology has helped me to get back on track. When I looked at my sleep data for the month (see image), I saw how spotty sleep affected how I felt. The 2nd week was so bad that motivation cratered; I had to use last week to get my sleep back on track.

I use two #iOS #apps for this: #AutoSleep (the screenshot source) and #RiseApp (it calculates #CircadianRhythms, the best times to sleep & wake, and tracks sleep debt).

3 nights of 8.5h of sleep caught me up, and I did it by going to bed at Rise’s recommended time, with 1mg of #melatonin taken 4h before that.

Props to my #AppleWatch for the data gathering.

Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

More Notes & Asides

Every 10-14 days I have a night where I get 3-4h of #sleep. I wonder if it’s triggered by stress or what (I have an 8am doc appt and decent sleep was a must). Mostly I wish I could sleep through the night more consistently, this has gotta be an adhd thing.

It’s so irritating when you ask a question online and people answer questions you didn’t even ask. I thought about adding ‘If you don’t have an answer to the actual question asked please feel free to not reply’ but I thought that sounded a little douchey. But a little douchiness would have avoided future me’s irritation. #PetPeeves #SocialMedia

*Be easy on yourself. Have fun. Only hang around people that are positive and make you feel good. Anybody who doesn't make you feel good, kick them to the curb. And the earlier you start in your life the better. The minute anybody makes you feel weird and non-included or not supported, you know, either beat it or tell them to beat it" - Amy Poehler
I finally learned to be a lot easier on myself about 3 years ago and it has made living with #adhd so much easier (so has #Stoicism and being intentional about whether something is worth the energy or not). If you had to give one tip to someone newly diagnosed with ADHD, what would it be? #ADHDTips #AmyPoehler

#Merchize’s support tries, sorta. But they suffer from the same issues that plague most #Asian nations who provide support to American customers: The last point I confirmed when working with some #Indian web devs year back. One day I asked them to change the color of text on a page to white, which they proudly did – except the background of the page was white 🤦🏽‍♂️ In any case: Merchize support tries but they use #Facebook or a #chatbot on their website for support. They do not have a ticketing system, and thus they repeatedly ask me questions I answered days before. It’s just half-assed. They try, but they’re going through the motions.

Hello again, insomnia you focker. I’ve somehow managed to get less & less sleep every day this week. You’d think that the fatigue would catch up to me but no.

Questions regarding #webmention & #Mastodon replies: Does it only sync replies to a toot that has a link in it? In my brief testing today I noticed that of the 3 comments I made to this toot, only the 2 that were direct replies to the OP were synced back to #WordPress. Also: is it possible to alter the incoming webmentions? It would be cool if there were a way to strip hashtags that are not in a sentence (ie the ones at the ends of toots).
