adhd fatigue

It’s Friday, which means my #adhd brain is tired from the week as I worked a little too long on a couple of days. It’s a lot easier to get distracted on Friday morning and a lot less motivating to get the day going. I try to limit my hours of work per day but I’ve been experimenting with change the last couple of weeks.

Maybe it’s worth it to get what I can get done on some days, striking while the iron/hyperfocus is hot? It must all even out in the end.

Or this could simply be the result of 3 straight nights of mediocre sleep.

Hi, I’m Arp! I got diagnosed with ADHD at 49, and now I'm trying to figure out what's me, what's masking, and just about everything else. I make comics (when imposter syndrome isn't striking) and write about life as a creative Indian-American. I’m self-taught, self-employed, and self-flagellating.

Minibus with Kurt Cobain Portrait - Bhaktapur - Nepal Date:28 March 2014, 23:26
I remember the day #KurtCobain died so clearly. It was April 5, 1994; I was a senior at #NorthwesternUniversity. I had no classes that day. I woke up, showered, and put on combat boots, brown linen pants, black t shirt & my #SocialDistortion Skelly hat. (Why I recall my outfit I have no idea.) I heard on the radio that they ‘found a body’ in Cobain’s house & didn’t think much of it. I figured somebody had OD’d and maybe it was him – but prolly not because he should be happy with his phenomenal success, no? I walked over to a friends’ apartment. We were hanging out & drinking MGD when the real news came out. We were stunned. I have no recollection what the rest of the day was like, what we talked about or anything. I wish he’d gotten the help he needed. Photo by Adam Jones. ...

This is my favorite #quote from #JosephCampbell (and one of my favorite #quotes, period). It made me think much more deeply about #mythology and its’ purpose, as well as its’ relevance to life and humanity (and, of course, myself). Modern life is so distracting; it’s hard to be truly connected with ourselves. Maybe mythology is a solution. People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive. That’s what it’s all finally about, and that’s what these clues help us to find within ourselves. Joseph Campbell #wisdom

Just shared this with my kids. It is good to know how long political things take when it seems like nothing is happening. It took Biden & his team 6 months to get through Mike Johnson’s skull. Politics & diplomacy are delicate processes and things are rarely as simple as we wish. This was simple vs how complex & multifaceted the situation with Israel, Iran, et al is. This is also why experience matters. Young pols might talk the talk but getting things done is a completely different ballgame. https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/24/politics/white-house-ukraine-funding-push/index.html

#TMNT was OUTSTANDING! Purty #art, well written, plenty of feels, great #characters, great #CharacterDesign – and it was FUNNY. The #90s #HipHop was cherry on the cake, with #ODB an unexpected surprise. #WuTang

Failing #DollarStores is a good thing. Now if we could only change the entire concept of #stocks and #shareholders to prevent a ridiculous focus on growth & numbers to building sustainable #businesses that pay #LivingWages and are not focused on squeezing profit from a stone.

Time to catch up on the #Eurovision semis after a ridiculously busy week! Unlike last year I’ve only listened to each song once so the performances are going to be like new songs for me, except for #Croatia (the only melody that stayed in my head).
