My final #Eurovision rankings, in order: My top 3 The best of the rest OK songs elevated by the performers Mediocre songs elevated by the performers Songs save by at least one kickass synth sound (ie they suck otherwise) Forgettable songs that sound like ripoffs of other songs (like Loreen’s ‘winner’) & performances that fell flat Songs that were just plain BAD And finally: the two worst entries of Eurovision 2024
Time to catch up on the #Eurovision semis after a ridiculously busy week! Unlike last year I’ve only listened to each song once so the performances are going to be like new songs for me, except for #Croatia (the only melody that stayed in my head).
Any #AppleiPad users notice an increase in weird little issues in the past few months? I’ve happily used a 2018 iPad Pro for the last 5 years but in the last few months there have been repeated weird issues. The iPad has always been rock solid until now, so I’m wondering if a recent iPadOS update messed things up (either intentionally or unintentionally by Apple) or if it’s just me. It’s definitely not a storage issue as I’ve got over 250gb (out of 512gb) free.
This was one of the most adorable things I’ve seen in ages – a youngun discovers that she loves #ProWrestling after having managed to avoid it for years. I can see the avoiding part, I met all of 1 friend in college who enjoyed it (the rest of them were snooty dicks desperate for alternative street cred*). This also hit home as our 14yo watched a little wrestling with me over the past year and found that they liked #IyoSky (and now #Asuka too) because of their style & attitude. (Not coincidentally, they’re into manga & anime so I suspect they’re like crazy anime characters come to life.) They watched both nights of ‘Mania with me after getting invested in Cody finishing his story and buying into all the various storylines. And also thinking that Rhea Ripley is cool as shit. They totally get what a unique storytelling experience it is – where else can the audience be part of and guide the story? Maybe webcomics but that’s missing the live performances. We’re planning on seeing some live wrestling as we can. Also: referring to Backstory as Lore is GENIUS. * I realize this says a lot about me at that age 🤷🏽♂️

#Merchize’s support tries, sorta. But they suffer from the same issues that plague most #Asian nations who provide support to American customers: The last point I confirmed when working with some #Indian web devs year back. One day I asked them to change the color of text on a page to white, which they proudly did – except the background of the page was white 🤦🏽♂️ In any case: Merchize support tries but they use #Facebook or a #chatbot on their website for support. They do not have a ticketing system, and thus they repeatedly ask me questions I answered days before. It’s just half-assed. They try, but they’re going through the motions.
One of the hardest parts of being an #entrepreneur with #adhd is needing some positive feedback (aka #dopamine) to helo follow through on complex #projects. I can break things down into a zillion steps and chip away, but pouring everything in without getting anything back makes each subsequent step harder & harder. Any frustrations along the way dealing with things out of my control, like vendors & their ‘support’ just pushes me over the edge. #neurodivergent
Just shared this with my kids. It is good to know how long political things take when it seems like nothing is happening. It took Biden & his team 6 months to get through Mike Johnson’s skull. Politics & diplomacy are delicate processes and things are rarely as simple as we wish. This was simple vs how complex & multifaceted the situation with Israel, Iran, et al is. This is also why experience matters. There’s nothing like having the #motivation to do something and then running into repeated unexpected issues that suck the motivation right out of you. I wish all of my technology would just fucking work consistently so I can focus on figuring out my processes for productivity instead of troubleshooting something that was working fine 2 days ago 🤬🤬🤬

Questions regarding #webmention & #Mastodon replies: Does it only sync replies to a toot that has a link in it? In my brief testing today I noticed that of the 3 comments I made to this toot, only the 2 that were direct replies to the OP were synced back to #WordPress. Also: is it possible to alter the incoming webmentions? It would be cool if there were a way to strip hashtags that are not in a sentence (ie the ones at the ends of toots).
Share on #Mastodon works, but delaying the share does not despite #cron running every 5 minutes. Now let’s see if the featured image gets shared. #adhd #adhdmemes
